“I love the concept of building a project as you would in the real world. I work harder to figure things out, and it will probably benefit me more in the long run rather than being spoon-fed information.”Becky Huett completed the Creating an Online Booking System Using Spring Boot and ReactJS liveProject
“liveProject was entertaining and rich in learning. The acquired knowledge can definitely be applied to other, real-life situations.”Alain Couniot, completed the Human Pose Estimation with Deep Neural Networks liveProject
liveProject FAQ
Are liveProjects like other online courses, such as those from Udemy, Pluralsight, and Coursera?
No, these aren’t courses at all. They’re projects that you complete using book and video resources, as well as the support of peers and mentors.
How much help can I expect as I work on the project?
Just the right amount so that you’re challenged but never stuck. You’ll receive step-by-step instructions, access to book and video resources selected for your project, opportunities to collaborate with other participants or an expert mentor, and access to three increasing levels of help within the workflow.
Do I get access to Manning books and videos when I sign up?
Yes. Once you begin a liveProject, you’ll unlock access to specially selected books and videos for 90 days.
What happens if I get stuck while working on a liveProject?
You can ask your mentor or peers for advice using a built-in discussion window. You can also access three increasing levels of support within the workflow.
Why is this a good way to learn?
Research into learning has conclusively found that knowledge is best absorbed, understood, and remembered when learners figure things out on their own. liveProjects break complex tasks down into achievable steps, so you can conquer it yourself in just a few hours.
In a liveProject, do I watch recorded lectures to learn new material?
Some liveProjects may contain video content, but they are not video- and lecture-based courses. You are given an assignment and the resources to support you in completing a real-life project. You actually learn by doing.
How do I know if my liveProject solution is correct?
Once you’ve finished, upload your work to the solutions site (within GitHub or another commonly used repo). You’ll get access to the project creator’s solution, as well as solutions created by your peers. You can then compare and verify that you did the work correctly.
Do I have to read and watch multiple books and videos to complete a liveProject?
No. The liveProject Resource section contains books, videos, and external resources that will point you in the right direction to find the skills you need to succeed.
Is there GitHub integration for liveProjects?
Yes, we have integrated GitHub into our platform so you can build your solutions and have them directly linked to the author’s project repository for easy access as well as simple submission of solutions.
Do I complete my work in a sandbox?
No, preparing for a job requires being able to set up your real-world work environment, and all liveProjects start with set up instructions to help you through the process. Your mentors are also here to help!
